Meet Jim Verghis
A Lifetime Devoted to Understanding Human Nature
Jim Verghis is the founder and developer of Behavioral Iridology. For nearly four decades, he has helped individuals, couples, parents, and practitioners understand the patterns that shape personality, relationships, and family life.
His work is grounded in professional study and thousands of personal consultations, but it also grew from his own experience of healing and transformation.
A Life-Changing Beginning
At the age of 22, Jim fell approximately 44 feet from a roof. His pelvis was broken in six places, his right elbow was fractured, and he lost nearly 40 percent of his blood. He was told that the injuries would likely leave him with severe physical limitations and arthritis by the age of 40.
That experience changed the direction of his life.
Determined to recover, Jim began exploring natural health, nutrition, cleansing, meditation, and the relationship between physical healing and emotional well-being. His recovery opened a much larger question: Why do some people respond to life, stress, illness, and healing so differently from others?
That question became the foundation of his life’s work.
Learning from Remarkable Teachers
Over the following years, Jim studied with five primary teachers whose work helped him understand the connection between the body, emotions, family history, and human behavior.
Two of the strongest influences were Denny Johnson, whose work explored personality and human dynamics through the structures of the iris, and Dr. John Cervenka, with whom Jim studied Embodiment for more than 12 years.
From Denny Johnson, Jim learned to recognize the extraordinary amount of information visible in the eyes. From Dr. Cervenka, he learned that intellectual understanding alone is not enough. Lasting change occurs when we can recognize what is happening within the body and allow ourselves to experience it consciously.
Jim studied closely with Denny Johnson for 14 years, eventually becoming his protégé. He then continued developing, testing, and expanding the work through decades of private practice.
The Development of Behavioral Iridology
Since beginning his private practice in 1987, Jim has completed thousands of eye-based readings and worked with individuals, couples, families, healers, and health professionals.
As the years passed, he recognized that the eyes were only one part of a much larger story. Iris patterns became even more meaningful when they were viewed alongside birth order, genealogy, family relationships, and the ways people experience emotion within their bodies.
These observations led Jim to develop Behavioral Iridology as an integrated model.
Rather than using the eyes to describe someone in isolation, Behavioral Iridology helps people see how their individual blueprint fits within the larger family system. It reveals why family members can grow up in the same home yet experience entirely different realities—and why certain emotional and relationship patterns can continue across generations.
Nearly Four Decades of Experience
Jim has been teaching and speaking about this work since 1987. His presentations have included professional iridology organizations and conferences in the United States and internationally.
Throughout his career, he has remained committed to making complex ideas understandable and practical. His purpose is not simply to tell people what their eyes reveal. It is to give them a compassionate framework they can use to improve their lives, relationships, and families.
Today, Jim’s work is expanding through books, online education, practitioner training, community programs, and the Center for Family Healing.
At the heart of everything he teaches is a simple conviction:
We are not broken. We are living within patterns that can be understood, accepted, and transformed.
The eyes reveal the itinerary of your soul.
